A customer avatar, also known as a buyer persona, is a detailed representation of your ideal customer. This includes information such as their demographics, pain points, goals, and objections. By understanding your customer avatar, you can create an offer that speaks directly to their needs and addresses their concerns.

But how do you create a customer avatar? Here are some unique action steps to help you get started:

  1. Research your target market: Before you can create a customer avatar, you need to have a deep understanding of your target market. This includes information such as their demographics, buyer process, goals, and business details like revenue, size, and niche. You can gather this information through a variety of methods, including surveys, focus groups, and interviews. Really identify who you are selling to!

  2. Discover your ideal client: Identify your biggest spenders and how you gained those clients if you send out a survey, sort through your response by clients who have been with you the longest, who spent the most and who you actually like to do business with. These people are you ideal clients, they will buy from you, continue to buy from you, and spend money on you. Why would you try to sell to anyone else once you’ve identified that these are your type of people?

You should be able to find five to six characteristics that ALL of your ideal clients have. These common characteristics are the foundation of your customer avatar.

  4. Give your avatar a name and face: To make your customer avatar more relatable and memorable, give it a name and a face. This can be a fictional person, or it could be a composite of several real people. The only thing that matters here is that you keep it in the front of your mind, always.

  5. Get moving: Use this customer avatar to fuel your lead generation, advertising, and marketing. This is the start of building your pool of ideal clients to sell to. What do your clients need to make a purchase? Is it long-form content? A video call? Base your answers on your findings about your ideal clients.

  6. Continuously updating your avatar: As your business evolves, so will your target market. Be sure to continuously update your customer avatar to remain relevant and accurate.

Creating a customer avatar is not a one-time task, it's an ongoing process. But by following these unique action steps, you can ensure that you have a detailed representation of your ideal customer that will guide you in creating offers that speak directly to their needs and addresses their concerns.
